• "Trees and Shrubs of the campus of Iowa State University" : A 215-page book featuring 100 species of trees and shrubs which Susan wrote, edited and illustrated as part of the requirements for her Master's Degree. The book was produced primarily for use by Dendrology students as a guide and text book to the trees on campus, but it also serves as a useful, easy-to-read resource for homeowners and those interested in the growth habits and general characteristics of a large variety of trees and shrubs cultivated and grown as landscape plants in the Upper Midwest. The illustrations in the book are line drawings done in pen-and-ink. Each plant is allocated a full page of illustrations and a full page of informative text.
  • Website and CD ROM: Susan also created an accompanying CD-ROM and website with detailed color photographs and text describing each plant's leaf, flower, fruit, bark, ecology, and uses. The hundreds of color photographs on the website/CD ROM were taken through the seasons and over a period of 2 years. The abovementioned book with its accompanying CD ROM is available for purchase at the Iowa State University Book Store for $18-50 plus tax and shipping.
